📣 Public Service Announcement (PSA): Speak Up for the Environment!

Grades: 5th & 6th


🌎 Purpose

Create a short PSA video, audio recording, or poster to teach others about an important environmental issue and how they can make a difference. Use your voice to inspire action!


đź§  Step 1: Choose Your Topic

Pick an environmental issue that you care about—like plastic pollution, climate change, water waste, endangered species, or energy conservation.

Learn key facts about your topic. Find 3–5 facts about your topic. Try to answer:

  • What is the problem?
  • Why is it a big deal?
  • What can we do to help?
  • Other facts:

🎯 Step 3: Know Your Audience

Decide who you’re trying to reach with your PSA—your classmates, teachers, or your whole school.

đź’Ą Step 4: Create a Hook

Create a strong hook (or slogan)— a sentence or image that grabs attention!
Example: “Did you know one plastic bottle can take 450+ years to decompose?”

Write an outline for your PSA. Include the most important points and decide how you want to organize them.

⏱️ Step 6: Set the Length

For videos or audio recordings, aim for 30–60 seconds—just enough to get your message across clearly and powerfully.


🎥 Step 7: Make Your PSA

Use a phone or simple recording device to film or record your PSA, or design a poster with color, bold text, and strong visuals to get your message across. Make it easy to understand and eye-catching! Your message should be clear, powerful, and hopeful!

Show your PSA to your class or school. Your message can make a big impact!
